[ADV] “To Love To Share To Touch”

4 April 2013

I guess most of you all know that I had a new toy recently which is Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5. A lot of people asking me to do a review about that camera after I posted up photos shot using it on my Instagram. Alright, so here is my review after using it for a few weeks.

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is compact, lightweight and functions with a multitude of different features, one can be easily fooled by the looks of the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5! Being smaller in size compared to the DSLR, this little machine makes it all the more easily to travel with too!

One of the highlights about the camera is the Touch AF Shutter. Olympus claims it to be the “World’s Fastest Touch Screen AF Shutter” and I very much agree to it! With just a simple touch on the Live View screen, the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 – equipped with FAST AF for instant autofocusing and Touch Shutter for instant image capturing – allows the focused area to be captured with precision and with ease. No more need to press the capture button again and again to get it focus on one thing with this camera. Just imagine a ‘DSLR speed photo capture’ bundled into a system camera where the image you see is the image you will get!

Here are some photos I shot using the Touch AF Shutter feature.

Attended the Dessert @ de Jouer lingerie fashion show at the J.W. Marriot together with my friends from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers (MHB) on 14 March 2013.

Meet MHB’s Louise, Sarah, Mynn (who’s also a Red FM announcer) and Emma.

We helped ourselves to a buffet of loads of desserts while waiting for the show to start and I took the opportunity to take some pics of the lovely tarts.

The photos are very sharp even in low light conditions and this is due to a few features namely the sensor, image processing engine and the high quality Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses.

The camera can shoot up to ISO25600 with huge noise reduction due to its 16M Live

MOS Sensor making it possible to capture sharp, clear images with little loss of detail even under conditions where a flash cannot be used. Hence, beautiful impeccable quality pictures!

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 also has ultra-high sensitivity for handheld nightscape shooting and has an extremely wide dynamic range from low light to high brightness making it able to accurately reproduce light and shade.

The high-speed TruePic VI image processing engine incorporates fine detail processing and real-colour technology which produces amazing images with high resolution and vivid, bigger-than-life details. To compensate for the lack of a viewfinder (which I feel is quite a relic these days unless you’re a professional photographer), a dedicated image processing core is used for both the recorded image and Live View image so photographers will be able to see what the image will look like before they even shoot.

Combined with the Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses which Olympus has spent years refining and improving, the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is quite the little pocket rocket!

Anyway back to the show.
Now it was pretty hard to keep focus on the models who were doing their catwalk but it was a breeze for me using the Touch AF Shutter. Just touch the monitor on the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 where the model is and ‘click’ the camera captures the photo!
Pretty MHB member and Miss World Malaysia 2013 Lee Yvonne was also there trying out her Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5.
Here are some of the bra designs. Each of us MHB members got to bring home one set after the event!
De Jouer means “naughty” in French!
We also received this cute pink teddy bear in our goodie bags!

On the way back to Pavilion Andy was trying to shoot us “Sex and the City” style as we were all carrying the goodie bags and walking like Carrie and her friends in the series.

For girls who like to take self portrait photos, the monitor also swivels for easy self-portrait shooting, how convenient! However a small drawback is that the flash mounted on the hotshoe that blocks the monitor a bit then again few girl shoots themselves using a lash unless they absolutely have to.

Another useful feature is the ability to import photos directly from the camera to my smartphone without any cables or card readers! Great for sharing photos on Facebook, and Twitter!
This is achieved by using the (optional) FlashAir Wi-Fi SD card in place of a normal SD card. Then just launch the OI.Share application on your smartphone when you want to transfer the photos and you will be able to view thumbnails of the pictures in the camera on your smartphone display, and you can then select which pictures to import.

Ta da! High quality photos uploaded straight to your social media account from wherever you are! Something that will definitely impress your friends!

The Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 comes with Body, Flash FL-LM1, Li-ion battery BLS-5, Li-ion battery charger BCS-5, USB cable, AV cable, Shoulder strap, OLYMPUS Viewer 2 (CD-ROM), Instruction manual, Warranty card, MCG-4 (Changeable Grip)

I will have another post coming soon on the Art Filter feature of the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 coming soon so stay tuned to my blog!

  4. I always wanted to wear sexy dresses. But the dresses I wore so far were not at all sexy. When I wear sexy dresses, it was not comfortable for me. This is the first time I could select a dress which is appealing for me and my lover. These days, he is always with me. This is like a second honeymoon for us. We never enjoyed the days even during our

  8. Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several
weeks of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?
