Sony What's Your View Challenge

26 February 2015

First of all, I would like to thank Sony for organizing such an awesome campaign. I'm really proud to be a part of the “What's Your View” project, and a million thanks go out to Sony for the great opportunity. It has been a great experience for the last three months.

I always bring my camera with me wherever I go, and this is why I prefer something that’s compact and takes decent photos. I've been a loyal fan of Sony since 2012. The first camera I bought is a Sony NEX F3. However, Sony has since dropped their NEX branding in favour of combining them with their Alpha series of cameras. As fate would have it, I am honoured to be chosen as a Key Opinion Leader for Malaysia to try out the #a5100. The a5100 is smaller and lighter compared to my older NEX model. It is an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera, and the quality of photos it delivered didn't disappoint me, and I would like to add that it’s extremely user-friendly too.

The a5100 is also great for photography enthusiasts who don’t want something as bulky as a DSLR. I also love its built-in WiFi feature. It’s perfect for social media addicts like me to share my photos on my social media platforms whenever I want.

Challenge 1 & 2

The first theme for the #SonyWYV challenge is "Colours of Life". It took me some time to judge all the submitted photos because most of them are really awesome. It's really hard to pick the best, because they are all such wonderful pictures. Anyhow, I would like to congratulate Teo Siow Yih from Malaysia for the winning submission. The photo says it all! It really highlights the ‘colours of life’ and the floating lanterns are simply breathtaking. It's my favourite shot.

The second theme is "Action", and the winner for the second challenge is Lim Chee Keong for Malaysia. I love this shot, simply titled as “Muddy Football”, and how it captures the excited expressions of the children as they scrambled together on an extremely wet field. The contrast of the photo is very vivid and yet warm as well. Congratulation to both winners!
