MUST have food in Tokyo

16 March 2017

I love Tokyo, simply from its great Japanese cuisine and the incredible vibe the city offers. I have something to admit. I’m a huge fans of Japanese food. I already knew that I would love the food before I entered it’s doors. Why do I love Japanese food so much? Simply because of the freshness and the tastes. On top of that, Japanese food seems to be more healthy compare to others so i felt less guilt having Japanese food. hehehe. Sorry if i make you drool after share some of the amazing dining experiences i had during this trip.

First of all, Tsukiji Market

I’m going to start with Tsujiki Market first because this is my favourite! Yum Yum......

Fish is big business in Japan, and the Tsukiji Fish Market on Tokyo’s lower east side is where it all happens. Everyone from chefs of 5 star sushi restaurants to homemakers visit this market daily to find the freshest fish around this area. If you are a fans of Japanese food like me, this is a place you can’t miss! I arrived in the afternoon.  That’s because i’m here with a different mission– LUNCH.

We choose this place for lunch, basically there is a lot of choice along the streets. I think most of them are good because everything is fresh there. Just follow the flow and see which one attracts you.

Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime Honten
They serves lunch set, ala carte sushi and also don.
I ordered the signature sushi set, including 11 sushi, miso soup, green tea and chanwanmushi (4500¥)
The food quality is good, real good!

Of course, it is not that crowded in the afternoon compare to the morning. but there is still a lot of restaurants and streets food opening during the noon. If you can’t make it at the morning, you can still visit in the afternoon for lunch like i did.

Don’t eat too much because there is still a lot of street food along the streets! You might need to reserve some space to try something else. I wish i can try them all. yes, ALL.
Everything is so FRESH and the price is super affordable too!

Enough said, go explore it yourself. I’m missing Tsujiki market already :(

How to get there :  Toei Oedo Line > Tsukiji Shijo station(E18)

ASAKUSA IMAHAN

Trust me, this is one things you must try in Tokyo! It is authentic Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu restaurant! This place was amazing. Located right outside the famous Asakusa Sensoji Temple. It's a big restaurant with lots of small rooms. There are booth and tatami options. The waitress are all wear kimonos and are amazingly friendly and helpful.
The price range Above ¥10,001

This is my first time having a traditional sukiyaki! Everything was amazing; from the service to the quality of the food. It's slightly pricey, but it's totally worth it. Service was excellent, the waitress showed us how to eat it properly and was super attentive.

The appetizer which comes together with the Suki Yaki set we ordered.
For traditional sukiyaki, they provide a raw egg and you beat the egg then dip the cooked meat into it before eating. The marbled beef was so tender and the flavor was epic.
It was heavenly and unforgettable. Not even kidding. You must TRY!!!

We also ordered ox tongue as side dishes to try. Everything tastes so good.
Seriously, i never thought that Suki-Yaki can be so good. The beef is heavenly good.
Trust me, this is definitely a must try while in Tokyo! Something you won’t regret having!
